First Defense Company

I went out and purchased a Defense Company it already has a Q1 in stock. We could have a defense system on the ground on May 6th

can the DS in stock be upgraded in the company if the company itself is upgraded?

Raptorfan, no if any company is upgraded with stock the stock is lost. (unless I'm wrong) Any DS is a good DS early on. I would recommend nothing lower then a Q4 Hospital though.

I have to say through experience that getting defensive systems is not the best way to go about spending money. In the USA we've already proved that buying Defensive systems is quite ineffective and does not help in battle. It becomes a waste of productivity, and I believe people should realize that we only have a need for a defensive system if we have hospitals.

Hospitals are the way to go, and since we are starting this late in the eHistory, we may want to look at importing a hospital, which is something I strongly advise against, however it may be a good quick solution.

for now I advise against putting any new Latvian workers into these kind of companies. See my economic proposal on other threads.

He got the DS for VERY cheap... and it's a moral-booster for eLatvian citizens, not necessarily a part of defensive strategy.

I'll probably just give it to a populated region it's only a q1

understandable, however I'd rather not see workers being put into what is a meaningless company. no offense meant there, however I believe that hospitals would be a much more effective way to boost morale and it serves a greater purpose.

if we have the man power, I'd like to organize a government run hospital Q5. it can start out small, but it will grow in time. After studying all the countries around the world, having numerous hospitals is the most effective thing for war time, and no doubt, there will be a time when we get involved in a war, so we'll want to make sure that we're ready.

depending on where our population lives, I can set up charts for where hospital placement would go.
DS's on the other hand are not important

I never said anything about having people work for the company. It came with a Q1 DS, that was the point. And you are assuming that we will have a large population that will be able to work for a government company. Not to mention, no one trusts each other yet with eLatvian funds, so I suggest we stick to creating a community, with solidarity, and less creating a detailed bureaucratic structure.

For the first while anyway, our goal needs to be recruitment, and bureaucracy doesn't help us with that.

I agree with the idea of building community, it's the first thing we have to do, however it still doesn't mean that we can't talk about other political ideas at the same time. Obviously the hospital idea can wait, however it's something that I want to put out there. I'd also like to see that there is only one domestic hospital company, as there's no need for more than one.

as far as recruitment goes, in the USA we had a program called the CEP (Citizen Expansion Program) which did wonders to boost our national size. Really though a lot of what builds the population size is publicity in real life. we'll need to advertise erepublik in many RL Latvian websites if possible. If we are able to draw out of their popular sites, we'll be able to see a major population boom.

If we are able to fend off the takeover-attempts and save the treasury, then we can just buy a hospital and not waste time and resources on any govt. owned ventures. Free-market!
